Lauderhill was originally to be named “Sunnydale”. After much talk, the name “Lauderhill” was coined, later becoming the City of Lauderhill. Lauderhill’s nickname is: Jamaica Hill and its motto is: “All-America City!”.
The City of Lauderhill is home to mostly Jamaicans, West Indians, and African Americans, but it still has a sizeable White, Jewish, and Hispanic population.
The City of Lauderhill always embraces cultural equality, diversity, inclusion, equity and has many historic business-friendly neighborhoods. The City of Lauderhill is rolling out their favorite “Welcome to Lauderhill” and their “Glad You’re Here!” inspiring Lauderhill welcome mats to new entrepreneurs, new startups, business founders, new residents, visitors and supporters for our many Lauderhill value-added local businesses.
